Geese to Fly in Sacramento

Former Monday Nighter, J.D. Eames, has won the Lambda Players “Best Original Lesbian-Themed Play” competition. The prize boasts $1,000 to the playwright, and a production of her play, Do Geese See God.

J.D. says, “I’m particularly indebted to The Monday Night Group for their support, as they unfailingly listened to iteration upon iteration upon iteration of the ‘backwards’ play.”

Lambda Players’ production of Do Geese See God opens February 20, 2009 in Sacramento, CA.

The Monday Night Tuesday March 13 evening has been canceled.

This summer, we’ll be saying au revoir to J.D. Eames. She says she’s moving, but we’ll believe it when we see it. She’ll miss us. Yes, indeed. You can keep up with her whereabouts via her website.

Next up for our Tuesday series on April 10, 8pm will be an evening with Margery Kreitman. Stay tuned for more details!

A fourth generation San Franciscan, J.D. Eames is a descendant of James P. Casey who was hung by the Vigilantes of 1856. She writes plays about choice and transformation.

Using the Door was a semi-finalist for the 2003 New Century Writing Award. J.D.’s short play, Intimate ASCII was published in The Book of Estrogenius 2002, and in Healthy Primates and Other Plays (A Collection of Plays from the New Playwrights Development Workshop). Excess Baggage will be published in the upcoming NPDW anthology, The Hollow.

Her latest play, Living in the Twilight With Our Three Selves, is a story about love and hope at the end of the world.

J.D. has written three screenplays. The Zeus Club, was a semi-finalist for the 2004 Page Awards.

A member of the Dramatist Guild, and since 2003 a member of The Monday Night Group.

She had to travel all the way to Alaska to meet Lee Brady.

J.D. has her own Website, too.
