John Robinson
John has been conceiving skits since he was a child, entertaining other kids on the block in his back yard with clown acts and puppet shows. He studied creative writing with a drama emphasis at San Francisco State University. John’s plays have been produced by BBC radio and the Magic Theatre. He was honored that the Magic’s artistic director, the late John Lion, choose his play Wolves as the first production at the Magic’s Fort Mason venue in 1978.
In 2009, his four short plays about food, Theater You Can Eat, was presented at Pena Pachamama Restaurant in North Beach. His play A Piece of Work directed by Robin Schild was seen at the Marin Fringe in the Fall of 2009.
Sources for John’s particular bent in theater include the plays of Theater of The Absurd, especially Beckett, Ionesco, and Pinter. He is also nourished by the work of Carl Jung that examines and shows the relevance in our lives of fairy tales, myths and dreams.
Mr. Robinson teaches English as a Second Language at the Mission Campus of City College.
